As we begin the weekend and then live through it we remember the changes that happen in life. Part of those changes are the things we discover in recovery.

Our strength is in the com unity built in our recovery. It is one where we can share and be honest about our journey. Until recovery we hid from things and hid our addiction. Today we have our back. Being open and real has saved us from a fantasy that was leading us into disaster. Remember: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Recovery is a season of spring that lives on daily. We find new peace and new joy even when we are struggling we have someone to reach out to. We don’t fight our past alone.
Sunday April 1, 2018
Today we can remember the gamblers life as seen by those who sell it to people. Casinos, lotteries, bookies and more all live by the motto: “A fool and his money can be parted”
When we were in our addiction we felt shame, in recovery we start with that guild and shame but should find some joy. Remember that in recovery you are becoming a better you!
Wednesday March 28, 2018
Recovery is something to be proud of not because you are clean but because you are not in your addiction! Remember that the real pride is for being known for what you are not doing anymore!
Thursday March 29, 2018
Recovery is knowing you have hope for the moment you are in and are not looking back at past hopelessness as the place you are at!. Remember to look where you are going to avoid a repeat of where you have been!

I was recently compared to a sheep dog. We all have those qualities but we also have the qualities of sheep and wolves. I can remember when I was the wolf who sought to get what I wanted when I wanted (Gambling). I can also remember times when I’ve been the sheep ( afraid to speak up and fight my battles) Then there is the combo animal. Sheep dogs are kind loving and caring for those who are associated with them. If an attacker comes the sheep dog changes though. They become the wolf and are ready to fight to protect. Remember there is a time to be the sheep and a time to be the sheep dog but the wolf in us has the ability to hurt.

I remember when I was self centered and thought I was being helpful. I chose to be centered on kindness today. Be kind to yourself because then you can be kind to others.
Tuesday March 27, 2018
Protect recovery because it is your future. Remember that if you focus on taking care of yourself you can care for others better.
Today has been a day of challenges, I’ve heard people talk of their struggle with their addiction. Often we forget that it is a disease that consumes our being and the only way to heal is to seek help to strengthen our real selves. Recovery is being in the wolf pack working together to find peace. Our addiction is the wolf that seeks to fight and destroy. Remember the lesson of feeding the you who is who you want to be.
Friday March 23, 2018
If our addiction calls us we should call it out by reaching out to our fellows in recovery. Remember that feeding the person you want to be means being with people who want you to be that person too!
Saturday March 24, 2018
Recovery is a journey but it is also a fight for our own safety. Remember that the wolf of addiction lives in you and keeps wanting to be fed. THEN Feed the other wolf!
Sunday March 25, 2018
How do we feed the addict wolf? by giving it what it wants and desires. How do we feed the Recovery wolf? By denying the addict wolf it’s desires and associating with the ‘pack’ of recovery wolves!
Below is the story behind this encouragement message!
Every day isn’t going to go as planned so how do we have joy even when the day get’s ‘gassed’? Focus on the fact that you are not gambling and that it has made a difference even when the situation isn’t what you had hoped for.

When I get up I think about what I want to accomplish and what it will take to accomplish it. Then on occasion something happens to keep me from getting it done. I get frustrated but realize that it didn’t kill me and that is a good thing. Just because we don’t get something done we don’t have to get relief through our addiction because we learn that it doesn’t really help.

I know that not every encouraging message hits it’s target. I’m not always sounding clear or even making sense. But it shouldn’t prevent me from trying again the next day. That is recovery… We aren’t always going to do as well as we want but it doesn’t take away from the desire to keep trying.
Too often we get bogged down in our bad yesterdays or worried about what is yet to come a month or year away. It takes more work sometimes to be in today but that is where we are. Focus on knowing where you are and that no matter how bad it is or seems to be it can get better.
Monday March 19, 2018
Today is what we have. Tomorrow isn’t here yet. Yesterday is in the history books. Remember that while it may have been horrible in the past it doesn’t have to define today. Even if things are not good in this moment remember that it will pass and keep an eye on each step you are taking.

Recovery is about being willing to have someone talk, being able to listen and being willing to talk so we can have someone listen. Keep recovery close to you and it will bring you many blessings.
